Wake up!  Strengthen what remains and is about to die... (Rev. 3:2a, NIV)

December 2005

Dear friend of KHCS,

You know that the desert is the place to be at this time of year.  While we may be singing “White Christmas,” I know of no one that enjoys shoveling snow!  Me, I prefer looking at it from a distance!

But, the Coachella Valley is a spiritual desert as well.  True, we have a few fairly large churches, several medium-sized ones and a bunch of little congregations.  But there is not anything like you find in the “Bible Belt” or in most areas of the country.  There you may find in an area this populous, one or two churches with an attendance of 10,000, maybe a dozen or more with 1,000, and many smaller churches.

Sandwiched between Santería (Voodoo cult) in the east end of the valley, and jotería (homosexuality) in the west, Christians in the Coachella Valley are engaged in a struggle for souls.  And most fail to recognize this.

Reaching the lost in this spiritual desert is of vital importance.

At this Christmas time we have opportunities to remind the world around us that Christ was born that we might live!  You can reach people we can’t.  We can touch the lives of people you can’t.  Together, let’s let the Valley know the love of Christ!

KHCS has been on the air for almost 13 years, bringing you Information and Inspiration, 24 hours a day.  Encouraging and teaching you in the ways of the Lord.  Bringing you uplisting music and informative programs like Focus on the Family, Insight for Living with Chuck Swindoll, Parent Talk On Call, Money Matters, and Let My People Think! with noted Bible expositor Ravi Zacharias.

But, we are now facing the most critical budget crisis to date.  We are far short of our budget and must get caught up by the end of the year!

At this time of year, many of you are considering your charitable giving for 2005.  You may be able to gain a tax benefit by sending a large gift by December 31.  Perhaps you could give an appreciated asset.  Perhaps you are in a position to send $1,000, $5,000 or more.  Maybe your finances don’t permit that.  But if everyone receiving this letter would send $30 or more this month, KHCS will be able to keep on bringing you the Christian programming you want to hear in 2006.

I cannot over-emphasize how meaningful your contributions are at this time.  You play a vital part in the success of this ministry.

Please continue to pray for the listener-supported ministry of KHCS.  Invite your friends and relatives to tune to 91.7 FM (we have Invitation to Listen Cards to aid you in this) and of course contribute generously this month.

If you are a Ministry Partner, would it be possible for you to double your regular contribution for this month only?  This would go far in helping us in hour financial crunch.

Thank you in advance for your generosity.  It is very much appreciated.

In His joy!
