January 2004
Dear friend of KHCS,
You have spoken!
We just concluded tabulating our Program Survey for
our 2004 programming lineup, and would like to thank those of you who
participated.
Focus on the Family remains our number-one
program with 87.2 percent of our survey respondents voting for that
program.
Insight for Living, Breakpoint, Parent Talk On Call
and Money Matters round out your top five programs.
Interestingly, the short feature Lighten Up
with comedian Ken Davis nearly doubled its survey responses, up from 24.2
to 42.6 percent. This popular show airs daily at 3:30 PM.
Also, your interest in news and information
features remains strong, with Family News in Focus, AP News, Washington
Watch and The Phyllis Schlafly Report high in survey responses.
I am encouraged by this because, as our scripture
verse this month points out, God’s people are destroyed “for lack of
knowledge.” I believe there are three areas in which this is crucial:
1. Knowledge of the Bible
2. Knowledge of history
3. Knowledge of the times
Christian researcher George Barna recently found
that only four percent of Americans subscribe to a Biblical world view.
More astonishing, only nine percent of Born-Again Christians
believe the Bible to be the final authority!
To assist you in standing firm on God’s Word, the
listener-supported ministry of Joy 92-FM and these monthly
newsletters provide accurate Bible teaching, information about America’s
Christian history, and news and commentary about events that are shaping
the world today.
That’s why your tax-deductible contributions are
vitally needed in 2004. The Biblically-based Information and Inspiration
we present, 24 hours a day, is something you and others in the
Coachella Valley need to remain strong in the Lord in these trying
times.
We have several projects in our vision to increase
the outreach and ministry of KHCS in this new year. Some of these
projects include:
1. Rebuilding, updating equipment and adding to our
studio facility so we can offer more localized
programming to better serve the Coachella Valley area.
2. Have a working backup transmitter and an
emergency backup power system so that we may
serve you even if we have technical problems.
3. Install at least three translators to increase
our coverage to outlying areas that we currently are not able to serve
well.
All of these outreach and expansion projects will
cost considerably more than our present income. This is needed in
addition to the regular operating budget of our ministry.
We ask you to prayerfully consider getting involved
as an active participant in this ministry. Remember the Biblical
exhortation to “be doers of the Word and not hearers only.”
Your faithful support is important. Please let us hear from you soon.
In His
joy!
