October 2006
Dear Friends of
KHCS,
A constant battle
rages for the hearts and souls of people on every front every day in
every way around the world. Bible believing Children of the One and
Only True God are by spiritual birth enlisted in our Father’s Army to
carry forth His Truth.
We are attacked on
many fronts. One frontal attack comes from those who would deny the
very existence, the credibility or the appropriateness of God Himself.
Atheists and agnostics for years have been entrenching themselves along
the battlefronts of our neighborhood classrooms and college learning
halls.
For decades those
who know not God have fought in the halls of Congress and our courtrooms
to remove Him and any reference to Him from all public use and display.
By law we are denied the opportunity to teach our children in their
classrooms His basic Law (the 10 Commandments) or even to acknowledge
His existence (in prayer).
Probably the most
prominent fight against Truth in our day comes recently from those who
worship and devote themselves to false gods. Young men and women
misguided by error and devoted to false gods, fly planes into buildings
and blow up buildings and subways killing innocent victims based upon
the erroneous belief it will guarantee them a place in heaven.
Other battle
fronts include the television and movie screens, pages of popular
literature, and, most recently, the internet. The pressure to be
politically correct has discouraged many in our army into laying down or
silencing their weapons of Truth.
John 14:6 is still
in the Book. Jesus said, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No
one comes to the Father except through Me.”
It is that Way,
that Truth and that Life we broadcast throughout the Coachella Valley 24
hours a day, seven days a week.
In the last few
months we have added several new programs that play throughout the day.
Some of the new programs are the Crescent Project, Love Talk with Drs.
Les and Leslie Parrott, Mothers in Touch with Fern Nichols and the Susan
B. Anthony List. We now have the Cal Thomas Commentary back on the
air. You can hear it at 1:00 PM and 5:00 PM. On Friday afternoons you
will want to hear Plugged in Movie Review by Focus on the Family at 4:00
PM and 5:00 PM. Then on Sunday evening at 6:00 PM, it’s the Bill
Gaither Homecoming Radio Hour.
We have other
programs planned for the near future, including one that will air on
Sunday evenings at 5:30 PM which will have many of our local pastors
discussing Biblical topics that are important to all of us.
Please remember
the word used is “we.” “We” includes those of use who create and
produce the programs. “We” includes the staff of KHCS who work in the
local facility pulling down the signals through satellite and other
sources then broadcasting the programs over the airwaves.
Most importantly,
“we” includes those of you who contribute on an ongoing basis to keep
this ministry financially alive. We need your continued support.
While we were
sweltering with blistering temperatures in the Valley the past four
months there was one thing that remained cool – our monthly donations.
The last few months have been very hard us financially. We have a
budget of about $15,000.00 each month. This year we have not made that
even once. As of the 22nd of September, we received exactly
80 donations totaling $3,870.75. This does not come close to taking
care of our needs. We have amassed a short term debt of $50,000.00 over
the last year that is DUE NOW! KHCS is supported only by the
tax-deductible gifts from our listeners. I would ask each of you to
pray about becoming a committed monthly ministry partner with us in
keeping Christian programming on the air here in the Coachella Valley.
We cannot continue to lose money and for that reason, I am letting you
know. Please pray about it and make as generous of a gift as you can so
that we can operate soundly and in a way that is pleasing to the Lord.
In this 3rd quarter of the year, we would like to eliminate
this short term debt – can you help us? We also need listeners who are
willing to make a monthly commitment to the Lord’s work here at Joy 92
FM.
In His joy,

Dan Pike
President
Note: Author and friend of Joy 92 FM
for many years, Samantha Landy, has given to KHCS many copies of her new
book, Savvy Singles Handbook. This is a very informative and practical
book for singles, 50 and beyond. It’s a good read for anyone, married
or single. As a friend and supporter of KHCS, it’s yours for the
asking. Just drop us a note or give us
call and one will be sent to you at no charge.
P. S. – The summer
months are traditionally slow for contributions. Your continual, monthly
commitment to be a partner in KHCS and our ministry of sowing the Word
of God 24 hours a day, 7 days a week is essential. Please give
generously as we serve our Lord together. Also, I hope your enjoying
our local news which is being done by Janet Barnbrook who is donating
her time to the work of the Lord.
